Peoples Health Plans Not Affected by Louisiana Medicaid Coverage Changes
Important Note: Peoples Health Medicare Advantage plans are not impacted by Louisiana Medicaid coverage changes for 2026. Peoples Health continues to offer our dual-eligible special needs plans to support our members who have both Medicare and Medicaid.

Dental Benefit
All Peoples Health Medicare Advantage plans include coverage for preventive dental services, including oral exams and cleanings. Most plans also cover comprehensive care, such as fillings and dentures. Some other plans offer comprehensive care only through an optional Platinum Dental Rider for a monthly premium.
Fitness Benefit
Renew Active® by UnitedHealthcare® is a fitness program for body and mind to help you stay active, focused and connected either at a gym or from home, at no additional cost.
Over-the-Counter (OTC) Benefit
Most Peoples Health plans offer an over-the-counter (OTC) items benefit, which varies by plan. If your plan has the benefit, you get a specified credit amount to spend on approved items.
Part B Give Back
If you pay a Medicare Part B premium, we may pay part of that premium for you. We call this a Part B premium Give Back, or a Part B premium-reduction benefit.
Part D Prescription Drug Coverage
With most Peoples Health plans, you don’t have to pay for a separate prescription plan because Part D drug coverage is included.
Passport Benefit
Most Peoples Health plans include UnitedHealth Passport®. If you’re out of your plan’s service area, you can use UnitedHealth Passport to get care at network costs.
Respite Benefit
Most Peoples Health plans cover up to 12 respite care sessions per year for members with dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, and each session can last up to eight hours. Services are provided in the member’s home or another household in Louisiana.
Transportation Benefit
Peoples Health dual-eligible special needs plans offer a routine transportation benefit. Members pay $0 for transportation to and from network doctor offices, pharmacies and other plan-approved locations within 75 miles of the home.
Vision Benefit
All Peoples Health plans offer a vision benefit for medical vision care, as well as a routine vision care benefit that includes coverage for routine eye exams and eyewear for vision correction.
Forms
Appointment of Representative – Designate someone the right to act on your behalf as your representative for requesting a coverage decision or an appeal or making a grievance (complaint)
Appeals – Formally ask us to change our organization determination for medical care coverage or our coverage determination for prescription drug coverage
Grievances – File a complaint (other than an organization determination or coverage determination) related to your health plan or health care provider, including problems related to quality of care, waiting times and customer service
Limited Health Care Power of Attorney – Name someone to carry out business and health care transactions solely with Peoples Health on your behalf, even if you are able to do so yourself but just want assistance
Louisiana Advance Directives – Ensure that decisions about your medical care, including your right to refuse treatment, are understood and followed by your health care providers if you become physically or mentally unable to make decisions on your own
